Profile

I am a Research Associate with the Western Australian Herbarium (part-time). My activities centre upon contributing to an improved understanding of Western Australia's fungi.

Expertise

My scientific expertise is centred upon the study of fungi (Mycology) and includes field, laboratory and herbarium based studies.

Brief CV

Academic Qualifications

B.Sc. Hons. 1st class. University of Western Australia, 1981

Ph.D. Jointly University of W.A. and CSIRO Division of Forest Research, 1988.

Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar 1990 - 1991.

Research Experience

I have about 30 years post-graduate research experience locally, nationally and internationally: generating and applying new knowledge about the biosystematics and ecology of macrofungi, particularly beneficial fungi associated with Australian plants and animals. My publications include scientific, technical, and popular articles/presentations, self-authored books, and web resources (see lists below).

Projects

  • Biological survey and community participation in assessment fungi diversity in W.A.
  • Fungi biosystematics and herbarium
  • Conservation role of fungal food resources for native animals in W.A.
