Profile

I am currently a Senior Research Scientist in the Bio-Information Group of the Science Division, and am on the Nuytsia committee.

My studies have included the genetics of the family Myrtaceae, a taxonomic revision of Western Australian Thymelaeaceae and an Australian flora treatment for the Thymelaeaceae, numerous flora treatments for the regional floras of the Perth and Kimberley regions, and taxonomic studies of other plant groups of taxa of conservation priority.

Much of my time has been spent in refereeing flora treatments and scientific papers, especially during my time as a regional flora writer and later as editor of Nuytsia.

Expertise

  • Flora writing for regional floras and for "Flora of Australia".
  • Studies of taxonomy and conservation status. The plant families studied in greatest detail to date are Apiaceae, Cyperaceae, Lamiaceae, Myrtaceae, Rhamnaceae, Tiliaceae and Thymelaeaceae.
  • Editorial work including extensive refereeing of scientific papers for taxonomic journals and flora treatments.
